Yong Yue

Yong Yue is in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State, specializing in the structural option. He will graduate in May 2017 with an integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering degree and a Minor in Architectural Studies. During the summer of 2015, Yong studied abroad in Rome, Italy for eight weeks as part of Penn State's Sede Di Roma program.

This past summer Yong worked as a structural engineering intern at KSE engineering; a residential wood frame consulting engineering firm. Yong's work experience includes the design of framing, bracing and foundations of residential wood structures. He used FORTE software, Excel spreadsheets and IBC (2009)/IRC building codes as the reference building codes to help with designs. Both the academic and work experiences have furthered Yong's interest in the design aspect of structural engineering. Yong will schedule the FE exam during the Thanksgiving break and will gain EIT status upon graduation. He plans on pursuing a Professional Engineering license in the future.

Yong is involved in the Penn State chapter Structural Engineers Association (SEA). He achieved Gladys M. Baired Memorial Scholarship this year. In addition,Yong is a leader and guitar player of "SEAL" band; a Christian worship band. "SEAL" has successfully held five concerts in different areas of the United States and often plays music in downtown State College. Yong dedicates the most time out of class to music and spending time with his friends during the past four years. Yong grew up on a grassland in Inner Mongolia, China, and he enjoys the outdoors.
