Reflection

Throughout the year-long senior thesis project, I have gained a greater understanding of analysis and design as it applied to an entire building instead of its components. My thesis study provided me a meaningful platform upon where I could practice the knowledge gained throughout my academic career. I become more confident in steel analysis and concrete design and more proficient of using building codes and software to help with the design.

My thesis study also provide me a stage upon where I could enhance my ability to find problems of the original structure and to pursue alternate design solutions. I have learned how to evaluate the feasibility and integration of different structural designs by considering architectural, mechanical, electrical and economical factors. Additionally, I worked closely with other students, engineers and professors. This was such a wonderful experience as it taught me how to communicate and interact with people efficiently.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Yong Yue. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
